Here’s what I picked for My Hobonichi Techo for 2025 this year.



I’ve been using the HON as my main planner for 2024, and I’ve decided to stick with it for next year too.
Just like this year, I went with a ONE PIECE magazine edition.



「ONE PIECE magazine / DON!」

Last year, I also featured this HON design in detail.
It’s actually made with woven necktie fabric by Bow & Tie.
And since it’s woven, that means…
the pattern is created by skillfully interweaving threads!


A pattern created through weaving.

You normally can’t see this part without peeling back the fabric,
but if you check the back, you’ll notice lots of colorful threads running through.
That’s what gives the fabric its unique texture with raised bumps.

I think this might be jacquard weaving (but don’t quote me on that!).
Jacquard looms are said to have inspired the invention of computers,
so if you think about it, the Mac I’m typing on right now
exists thanks to the very machine that weaves this fabric.
Pretty mind-blowing!

I also picked up something I don’t usually use a stamp set.
Here it is:

The cool thing about this stamp set?
Most of the designs match the HON perfectly. A perfect combo!
I actually didn’t even realize this when I bought it.

For the third year of this collaboration, the daily quotes feature words from One Piece chosen by readers.
The quotes were carefully selected from an open survey, making them even more special.
This is something to look forward to!

Since I joined Hobonichi, I’ve been telling myself, “I will start using a techo!” But… my 2024 pages have mostly stayed blank.

Anyway, here’s My Chosen Hobonichi Techo 2025!

Now, let me introduce the three planners I picked!

● First Techo: For Work
weeks MEGA / Bow & Tie Sushi

I live to eat, and I love sushi!

The different plate designs for each topping, the little side of pickled ginger—I love how playful yet detailed this cover is. It just makes me happy.

And my favorite sushi, tuna fish, is sitting right in the middle of 2025! I mean, how perfect is that?
I chose MEGA so I could see my whole week at a glance while still having plenty of space for notes. The best part about the weeks memo pages, both in the weekly section and at the back, is how you can write freely without worrying about dates.



I carry this around as my work set inside the
Alettone (Olive).
I love the calming olive color and how the internal dividers can be folded down!



In the clear pocket on the back,
I keep my favorite stickers and postcards.
I’m looking forward to swapping them out with the seasons or my mood.

HON A6 / MOTHER “You come buying? You can sell, too.”

2024 marked the 30th anniversary of MOTHER 2,
so there were tons of events this year. As a MOTHER 2 fan, and especially a Mr. Saturn fan, this cover was an instant pick for me!

I used to have a habit of writing my next day’s to-do list on sticky notes at the end of each workday. But ever since we switched to a free-address office, I stopped since I didn’t know where to stick them.

I thought pasting them into my planner would waste writing space… but since I ended up leaving that space blank anyway, I’m just going to stick them in next year! I want to use this planner as my own personal logbook, keeping track of my progress day by day.

Now that I’m working on the Techo Team, I often lose track of what year I’m working on. Having a daily planner where I can look back at exactly when I did what seems like the perfect solution.

I love the golden shimmer around the edges in the photo.

The sepia base makes each scene shine like a precious memory,
and just looking at it fills me with emotion.

I plan to use this as a personal diary,
but I also want to carry it around
to test out new stationery I come across.

I wasn’t very good at keeping up with my techo,
but through exhibitions and in-store visits,
I received a lot of great advice from customers.

One thing that really stuck with me was

becomes a record of what kind of year you had.
That thought really put me at ease.

I might have gone a little overboard with my choices,
but I hope to enjoy them in a way that feels right for me.

Hello, I’m Beckham 3 from the Techo Book Production Team!

Since November, the theme for My Hobonichi Techo for 2025 in the “Hobonichi Techo News” has been in full swing. Now that we’ve entered December, members of the planner team have been eagerly introducing their selections one after another.

Alright, riding this wave, let me share the planners I’ve chosen!

Before that, here’s what I used this year:
For my planner book, I had the “Japanese Cousin Avec Books”, paired with the “MOTHER: Strikes Back!” cover. For my HON (A6 Size), I used “MOTHER: Earthbound Beginnings.”


My MOTHER series setup - it was fantastic!

The spacious Cousin Avec was primarily for work, while the HON was for personal journaling. Looking back, even though I just wrote in them recently, they already feel a bit nostalgic.

To my delight, the MOTHER series HON is back for 2025! Without hesitation, I’ll be passing the baton from the first edition, “MOTHER: Earthbound Beginnings,” to the second edition, “MOTHER: You come buying? You can sell, too.” To be continued!


Just holding a MOTHER planner sparks joy.

For my work planner in 2025, I’m sticking with the Cousin Avec. It offers ample writing space without being bulky and is easy to carry around. Honestly, the Cousin Avec is my personal “top pick planner.”


Fellow Avec fans out there, you get it, right?

So far, I’ve been cruising along, but now my momentum has come to a screeching halt.

The issue? Deciding on a cover for my Avec.

I was planning to keep using the “MOTHER: Strikes Back!” cover I loved this year. But an unexpected challenger appeared for 2025.


Behold! “Masamune Kusano x junaida: Himitsu Stranger.”

I adore both junaida’s work and Spitz, so this cover, made by our own techo team, feels like cheating—it’s just too good.

Back in March, I even went to the “Himitsu Stranger Exhibition” at Hobo Nichiyobi, and it was fantastic.


junaida’s artwork and the exhibit’s presentation were simply outstanding.

Now, my previously firm decision to stick with the MOTHER series for 2025 is wavering.


To stick with tradition or to change *that* is the question.

Caught between two options, I thought, “Since it’s an Avec, I could switch covers between the first and second halves of the year.” But for now, I’m putting this dilemma on hold.

Instead, I moved on to pick another planner—a Weeks dedicated to hobby journaling.

And guess what? Another battle broke out!


Once again, it’s “MOTHER” VS “Himitsu Stranger”!

On one hand, there’s “MOTHER: Smiles & Tears.” On the other, there’s “Masamune Kusano x junaida: Through the Purple Night.”

I’m thrilled by the options, but I love them both! It feels like a grand sumo match between two titans, and my mind is already splitting into “Red Team” and “White Team” for a mental song contest. Do I really have to choose?

This annual delightful agony—what is it all about? Could it be the work of the mysterious “Techo Mask”?


Even the boy on the left is saying, “Can I think it over a bit more?”

As we near the end of the year, I’ll make my final decision before Hobonichi Store’s last shipping day or Tobichi’s holiday break. If you haven’t chosen your 2025 planner yet, let’s decide together! The journey to finding the perfect planner continues.

Cousin Avec: My anything-goes scrapbook

The first planner is my anything-goes scrapbook, where I stick everything I want!



This is how I used my 2024 planner—freely and creatively.

After I got a photo printer, I discovered the joy of printing photos and sticking them in. Now, I just keep finding more things to add!



I stick in more than just photos, like shop cards and even doodles.

By the end of the year, I always feel a deep appreciation that every little day was special in its own way.



Here’s how thick my 2024 planner got with just six months’ worth of memories! Because I love sticking in whatever I want without worrying about space, the split-volume Avec format is a lifesaver.



I plan to keep using my beloved 2022 mina perhonen cover for this planner.

Hobonichi Plain Notebook (A5 Size): My work planner


The second notebook is for work.

While I manage my schedule digitally, I prefer to take meeting notes and track my to-dos on paper. Writing things out by hand helps me organize my thoughts better.

In 2024, I used the A5 size Day-Free for this purpose, which lets you write without worrying about dates.



However, I realized I wasn’t using the monthly calendar pages at all, and I often used illustrations to clarify my thoughts. So, for 2025, I decided to switch to the Plain Notebook.

I’ll pair it with Naoki Ishikawa’s A5 Cousin-sized cover.



I adore Ishikawa’s photo books. With Denali in my heart, I feel ready to tackle work with a bold and expansive mindset.

The third planner is for jotting down anything and everything.

I started keeping a random notes planner in April 2024 using a Weeks. It’s where I write down fleeting thoughts or things I’m likely to forget.



I write the most trivial things in it, but don’t you think it’s fun to look back on these little snippets later?

While the compactness of the Weeks was nice, I often wanted a bit more writing space, so I decided to switch to the A6 Original starting January.



Since I want to take it everywhere, I prioritized portability and chose the Only Is Not Lonely cover. It pairs perfectly with the Hobonichi Store exclusive ballpoint pen from 2024.

In 2024, I tried using the Weeks as my work planner for the first time because I wanted to organize my weekly to-dos in one place.

At first, I thought the Weeks wouldn’t have enough space for everything, so I paired it with the Original book, which has daily pages. But eventually, carrying two planners everywhere became a hassle...


In the end, I settled on stuffing the Weeks into my laptop case pocket.

After I gave up on carrying two planners, I switched to taking notes on my computer. But honestly, I miss the freedom of writing by hand. At the same time, I’ve grown fond of the Weeks...

So, in 2025, I’ll try the Weeks Mega, which has three times the memo pages of the regular Weeks!

I chose the Leaf Green Sneaker cover because its bright, cheerful green is simply adorable.


It even pairs nicely with the Hobonichi Store exclusive ballpoint pen!

The cover material looks great for decorating with stickers, so I’m planning to personalize it with some of my favorites.

This year, I carried a few pens stuffed into my laptop case pocket. But in 2025, I want to bring a wider variety of stationery with me, so I’ll pair the planner with the Tragen cover.

For Personal Use - HON (A5 Size)

Hiroko Kubota: Crescent Moon Delivery [HON (A5 Size)]

This year, I’ve been using the A6 size Planner to create collages with candy wrappers, photos, and other cutouts.



It was fun to carefully select which parts to cut out and arrange them to fit the compact A6 size. However, I found myself saving up materials and doing the work later, which took more time.

For next year, I want more space to freely paste things, so I’m upgrading to the A5 size, which is twice as large.

I chose Hiroko Kubota’s Crescent Moon Delivery design because the glowing crescent moon and its reflection on the water are stunning.


My favorite detail is the fox’s expression—the eyebrows and whiskers are adorable.


The glossy cover adds to its beauty, both front and back.

I also plan to use this planner to write a daily diary, because…

Hobonichi 5-Year Techo

There’s a reason I also want to write a diary in the HON: it’s my first time switching to a new 5-Year Techo!

I’ve been using the 2020–2024 edition, and at first, I often missed days. But by the second year, I realized how fascinating it was to read my thoughts from the previous year. That’s when I fell in love with the 5-Year Techo and started writing every little detail in it.

Eventually, I ran out of space and thought, “Next time, I’ll get the Large 5-Year Techo!” But...



The haconiwa gift set by iyo okumi won me over with its beautiful embroidered cover and charming miniature garden-inspired box interior. Even though I was tempted by the larger size, I chose this one instead.

To manage the limited space, I’ll write daily reflections and thoughts in the 5-Year Techo, while the HON will hold details about meals and events. I’m still debating whether to swap those roles, but I’ll figure it out before next year!

Out of the many amazing options, here’s my pick for “My Hobonichi Techo for 2025”!

For work, I chose the One Piece HON. I’ve been using the 2024 version of the One Piece HON as my work planner this year, and it’s been such a mood booster—something I carry with me every day and see often. I’m certain it’ll keep lifting my spirits next year too!

It’s such a lovely combination when placed together.
Since I’m a die-hard fan of the manga series (I buy every volume as soon as it’s released), I also dream of one day displaying this planner alongside my manga collection, which made HON the perfect choice.

I plan to make great use of the Pochitto6 and sticky notes to stay on top of my tasks and create a lively, vibrant planner.
(The colorful sticky notes will also match the vibrant cover of the Unsodo Bijutsukai (Rainbow) planner!)

As for the Alettone Document Case, our office doesn’t have assigned desks, so I’ve always struggled to carry my work tools around without dropping them (which happened a lot...).
This case was a must-buy for me!

I’m amazed at how sleek it looks while holding so much inside. It’s truly impressive!

(Even my trusty calculator from my university days fits perfectly!)

For personal use, I chose the HON Bijutsukai (Rainbow). Reading the feature on Unsodo’s Bijutsukai made me appreciate its timeless beauty even more. The vibrant, artistic design feels so modern and inspiring.

I opted for the A5 size because I wanted to fully enjoy the design (and because my handwriting tends to be large...).


I’ve been using Hobonichi planners since before I joined the company, primarily as a straightforward diary where I jot down daily events and thoughts without much embellishment. While this simplicity has helped me stick with it as a journal, seeing all the creative ways my colleagues use their planners has inspired me.

Next year, I want to add photos, stamps, and fun elements to make my planner something I can instantly enjoy at a glance!

I love attending concerts, reading books and manga, and watching movies. My plan is to paste photos and jot down my impressions. Since I change my nail designs every month, I also want to feature a picture of my nails on the monthly cover pages, saying, “This month’s look!”

By filling it with everything I love, I hope to create a planner that’s packed with “soul-nourishing” inspiration. I’m so excited to dive in and make it my own!

I really went all out for 2025, didn’t I?

Before diving into each one, let me tell you about my “drama journal” journey.
I’ve been quietly sharing updates about it in Techo News and social media posts for some time now. After much trial and error this year, I finally concluded:

“Weeks is just the right size!”


I tried cramming everything into HON A6 Size...

...and dedicating a two-page spread per show in Day-Free A5 Size.

I experimented with different setups, but I often found myself stuck because of the self-imposed rules I’d created.

All I really wanted to capture was how I felt about a show when I watched it. So, I decided to let go of the strict rules and focus on writing casually in a Weeks.



Now, anything goes:
- Jot down a quick thought like a speech bubble? Perfect!
- Let the words spill out of the boxes? Why not!
- Skip a week? Totally fine!

With this mindset, I’ve been able to enjoy the process and stick with it. When I look back, the short, one-line reflections make it easier to recall my favorite scenes. Sometimes, I even draw a little doodle for fun.


Including the title and subtitle helps me remember the plot of each episode. If I run out of space, I jot down more thoughts on the right-hand memo page. Oh, and Kijitani-san’s final expression? So good!

That wraps up my drama planner update! Now, let’s talk about the planners I chose for 2025.

Weeks → Drama journal

The Loft-exclusive Coji-Coji Weeks (and matching pencil board) was a hard-fought victory. I called multiple stores, visited several locations, and even had my husband check near his workplace before I finally found it!


The little Coji-Coji sleeping by the “2025” and the one showing off their cute backside in the middle? Absolutely adorable. With this cheerful Coji-Coji by my side, I’m excited to keep recording my favorite dramas.

HON A6 Size → Monthly illustrated diary & collage

For the HON A6 Size, I chose the colorful, retro-style Bijutsukai (Rainbow) by Unsodo. I’ve been drawing a monthly illustrated diary this year, so I plan to continue in 2025!


When the drawings turn out well, it’s a joy. When they don’t, they’re a funny memory to look back on later. Either way, it’s so much fun that I want to keep it up.

For the daily pages, I’m thinking of trying something new—perhaps a collage or scrapbook style.

Cousin → Work planner
For work, I’m sticking with the Cousin again this year. However, I couldn’t decide between the Taut Zipped and Phoolon covers, so I got both!


The Taut Zipped has a luxurious, sturdy fabric, so I’m thinking of using it during the colder months. When the weather warms up, I’ll switch to the cheerful Phoolon cover.

Here’s the pencil board I’ll be pairing with my work planner: Hobonichi Pencil Board for A5 Size (Paddington)



On the back of the pencil board, there’s a tiny, adorable Paddington. He’s trying to climb a tall step while carrying way too much—so many questions come to mind! How can he see? Are his hands okay? What’s that hat made of? Whenever work gets tough, I’ll take a peek at Paddington and smile.

5-Year Techo → Diary

Since 2024 was the final year of my previous 5-Year Techo, I’m excited to start a new one for 2025. I can’t wait to see what the next five years have in store!

For this edition of the Techo News, I’ll introduce the Hobonichi Techo 2025 planners I chose.



It turned out to be a simple selection this time. Seeing them lined up like this makes me realize this might be my current mood.

Purchased Items:

I bought two planners, just like this year—one for work and one for personal use.

First, for work, I’ve decided to try using the Planner for the first time.



When I open it, the clean, elegant pages feel so refined. Since this is my first time using this planner, I’m feeling both excited and a bit nervous to start.



The Planner’s pages are mainly printed in a sophisticated charcoal gray, but Sundays are highlighted with a vivid red. It’s crisp and pleasing to the eye.



Another highlight is that the daily quotes are in English. I’ve always wanted to study English but haven’t taken any action yet. So, I’m thinking of challenging myself to translate one page a day into Japanese. (Here’s hoping I stick with it...)



I plan to pair this Planner with the trifold leather Charcoal Gray cover.





I’m also secretly thrilled that the cover’s charcoal gray complements the Planner’s print color perfectly.

For personal use, I decided on a Weeks.

I had already planned to use a Weeks for personal matters but hadn’t given much thought to which design to choose. Then, while wandering around the Tobichi store, I came across this one: Snake-kun.



It was featured in the Secret to Bow & Tie, guiding me through the contents with such charm that I couldn’t help but read it thoroughly. As someone born in the Year of the Snake, I immediately felt a connection and decided on this one.



The base is a sophisticated gray-beige, accented with vibrant blue and red. It’s both cute and chic, making it wonderfully stylish. It also pairs well with simple items.

Since this is my zodiac year’s planner, I want to fill it with all the things I love.

After much deliberation (a fun annual tradition), I ended up choosing something fresh and different from what I originally had in mind. I’m very happy with my selection.

Hello, I’m Higashi, and I manage the Hobonichi Store as part of the Techo Team.

In our ongoing series, “My Hobonichi Techo for 2025,” here are the planners I’ll be using in 2025!



Let me briefly share how I plan to use them.

1st techo: HON Bijutsukai (Rainbow) for life logging

This planner will be for documenting hobbies and jotting down or pasting in things I come across throughout the day. I chose the A5 size so I can use it freely without worrying about space constraints.


I’ll use it alongside the Hobonichi Store Exclusive bonus notebook (right).

I love the straight-line rainbow pattern, the vibrant colors, and the warm, slightly textured feel of the cover.

I plan to use this planner to cherish and preserve the “day-to-day” moments. I’ve already started jotting down some fun prompts for warming up and sparking ideas on the introductory pages.


Using speech bubble sticky notes makes the pages lively.

On days when I’m unsure what to write, I’ll look back at this page for inspiration, treating it like an interview with myself to capture the essence of my day.

2nd techo: Bow & Tie Sushi Weeks Mega for health management



Since it has a sushi motif, my ultimate goal is to “live a healthy year and enjoy lots of delicious sushi!”

I’ll use it to track my daily steps, weather, sleep hours, and other health-related details. Each week, I’ll review and make improvements based on my notes.

The weekly pages in the Weeks can be used starting November 25, so I’ve already begun setting up the base for next week’s entries.


I’ll record my meals on the left and summarize everything else in a table format.

I’m motivated to start managing my health with this planner, especially as we approach the end of the year—a time when it’s easy to get sick!

3rd techo: Day-Free (A5 Size) for an enjoyable reading log


I also bought a new stamp and ink for jotting down my thoughts.

Since 2023, I’ve been tracking the titles of books I read each day. This year, I started noting them in the monthly calendar, and I plan to continue next year.


I love decorating my reading log at the end of each month!

While continuing this habit, I want to expand by writing down my thoughts, things I want to learn more about, or memorable words and phrases from the books I read.

The monthly calendar + graph paper format of the Day-Free is perfect for this.

Rather than forcing myself to write every day, I’ll use this planner at my own pace, jotting down as many pages as I like whenever inspiration strikes.

I’m still deciding on a work planner, so I plan to take inspiration from the updates shared by other members of the Techo Team.

What I bought is…

- Unsodo: Bijutsukai (Tanabata Decorations) [Weeks]　
- Bow & Tie: Sushi [Weeks]　

That’s quite a list, isn’t it? I think I made these purchases around September 5th. Back then, I was full of enthusiasm.

By the way, the planner I’m currently using is a single Weeks by Yumi Kitagishi. However, September and October pages were left completely blank, and I’ve only just started using it again recently.



I couldn’t even fully utilize one Weeks this year, so why did I decide to buy four planners for next year? I’m feeling a bit of regret, but here’s my initial plan:

Plain Notebook + PAMM → For Work



I’m using this combination for work notes.

I used to use the Cousin for work, but since there were days when I wrote a lot and days I didn’t write at all,, I decided to switch to the Plain Notebook, where I don’t have to worry about dates.
Hobonichi Frame Stickers for Dates make it easy to keep everything neat, so I recommend them!



Hobonichi 5-Year Techo Gift Set: haconiwa → For a Diary



This one is for journaling. I’ve been writing short, three-line diary entries in my Weeks this year, so I plan to transition to the 5-Year Techo.

Bijutsukai (Tanabata Decorations) [Weeks] → For a Reading Log



I was inspired by 's book tracking idea (will link to YouTube video), so I plan to use this as a reading log. Dreaming of jotting down notes in a cafe, I also bought a Rivet Band Laccio to carry my pen with me.

Sushi [Weeks] → For Meal Tracking



I plan to use the SUSHI Weeks to record my meals. I’ll be borrowing the idea from 's rice diary.
On days when I manage to pack a bento, I’ll stamp it with a Pochitto6.
…But since I’ve only made bento lunches a handful of times this year, the real question is: can I manage to do this every day in 2025?

Before I started writing this Techo News post, I was absolutely convinced I’d bought too many planners. But now that I’ve laid out my plans, I’m actually starting to feel excited.

If I manage to stick to my plans, I’ll be reading a book every week and packing lunch every day—I might even become a completely different person by next year!
