Our Techo News series, “Hobonichi Techo Kaigi,” has kicked off again this year! I’ve been secretly looking forward to seeing which techos all my colleagues choose.

Without further ado, here are the items I picked!



My choices aren’t too different from what I shared during our recent “Hobonichi Techo Kaigi LIVE” YouTube stream, but I’ve finally made up my mind about the HON and Weeks I was torn between! (A huge thank you to everyone who tuned in and gave me advice!)

For my private techo — where I pack in everything from concert memories and travel logs to daily morning brain dumps based on the day’s theme — I’m continuing with the Cousin Avec for 2027. I love how the generous layout accepts whatever I throw at it, and this will be my third year using the Cousin size!

For the cover, I had to chose PUPPET SUNSUN, I love him! I get so excited thinking about what to slip into the front pocket, and I can’t help but smirk whenever I flip open the back pocket to check on PUPPET SUNSUN hiding inside. So cute!

And of course, I’m pairing it with the matching pencil board that I knew I had to get as a set. Ah, so cute...!



Next up is my work HON, which I was still deliberating on during the livestream. In the end, I decided on the Slash (Navy) design!

I’ve loved how comfortably it fits in my hand and its dignified presence, so I already knew I wanted another HON this year. I was torn between this and Hiroko Kubota’s “String Telephone until the Full Moon,” but I really love my current habit of slowly decorating my cover with favorite stickers over the course of the year, so I went with Slash after all! I’m already so excited wondering what the very first sticker I paste next year will be.

Next up is my Weeks, which I asked those that tuned into the stream which I should pick up.
Having been involved in producing the techo book itself — including editing and selecting the quotes — the Moomin edition was a definite choice from the start.

I thought it would be wonderful to see two years’ worth of books lined up side-by-side like this, so I chose the Moomin: At the Table (Special Edition) Weeks. As with previous years, I plan to use this Moomin Weeks for work scheduling and managing to-do lists. Enjoying the Moomin quotes and illustrations will definitely keep me motivated at work!

As for my second weeks, after endless deliberation, I finally decided on PUPPET SUNSUN: Banana!



Besides loving PUPPET SUNSUN, the final deciding factor was how energized I feel just looking at that vibrant yellow color! Thank you so much to everyone who gave me advice during the livestream! (I was also so happy when people mentioned that Liberty Fabrics: Floral Remedy would suit me, too!)

Naturally, I’m using the matching PUPPET SUNSUN pencil board here as well. The contrast in size between PUPPET SUNSUN on the Weeks cover and PUPPET SUNSUN on the pencil board is just irresistible. Ah, so cute!



For now, I plan to use this book to record my thoughts on books I read, movies I watch, and art exhibitions I visit. I really loved the way used their Weeks during the livestream, so I decided to copy it! Since the Weeks is so easy to carry around, I can easily jot down fresh impressions while sitting at a café.

And look at all these stationery items!



Beyond the Moomin and PUPPET SUNSUN items I wanted to pair with my techos, the Hello Kitty items were so impossibly cute that — even though I had secretly debated getting more until the very end — I ended up buying the stickers and clear files! I’m thinking about pasting the stickers on the cover of my HON.

I also picked up the Collect & Collage: Collage Stickers (Deco). They come in both masking tape and film materials and are so cute — I plan to use them for my travel logs in 2027.

And that wraps up my Techo Kaigi!

Hello! I’m Momoka, a new member on the team.
Recently, my neighbors gave me two whiteboards — I’m not entirely sure of the details, but I guess their child didn’t have a use for them anymore! Since I have them now, I decided to use one for my techo kaigi.

Let me start by writing down how I used each one. I’m looking for ways to streamline and slim down my lineup.
My primary book, the Weeks Mega, has gotten quite bulky, and I’d really like to make it easier to carry around.



So first, I decided to split up my Weeks Mega — which used to hold everything from personal life to work — into two distinct categories: “Family” and “Work.”

For “Family,” I plan to use a 5-Year Techo to journal about our children’s growth and life as a couple.



For “Work,” I’m planning to carry the cool Natal Design Weeks to keep things sleek and smart.

On a quick side note: while shooting photos at the office for this techo kaigi, fussing over this and that, I grew so attached to everything that before I knew it, I bought almost all my candidate items and took them home! That’s why you’ll see a mix of very “office-like” backgrounds and photos of my whiteboard at home.

Anyway, moving right along with the meeting!

Next up is the Day-Free I use for studying English. I've always wanted to keep an English diary, so I’ve been working through the book "365 Days of English Journaling to Make Dreams Come True" by Chinatsu.

Since I take a slow-and-steady approach, I figured I’d need about 365 days × 2, so the idea of using two Day-Free books crossed my mind.

Since I’m aiming to keep things slim, I searched for a cover that would still look sleek even with two books inside, which led me to ONLY IS NOT LONELY.

I thought to myself, “Wait, did I just come up with an incredible idea? ...Hold on, is this setup even practical?” When I went to ask , I learned that was already using two Day-Free books together for work! Which completely convinced this will work out great.

Another side note: I decided to buy the 5-Year Techo because pointed out that if I start it next year, it will cover my eldest child’s growth from 1st grade all the way through 6th grade.

Back to the meeting!

If I keep getting sidetracked, we’ll never finish, so let’s pick up the pace!
Next is my book for doodling. I use it to draw with colored pencils and crayons, or to practice with Kakimori dip pens.

Next year, I’d love to learn calligraphy, so I’m going to try the Landscape Notebook, which is supposed to be wonderfully smooth for both writing and drawing.

Lastly, my Hobonichi Plain Notebook (A5). I started pasting paper ephemera collected during my trips this year, so I plan to continue that next year! Since I only travel occasionally, I felt an undated notebook works best for me.

And with that, my techo kaigi comes to an end!



...But please allow me one final side note!

Even though I can’t think of a specific use for it yet, I'm interested in the One Piece special edition techo.
But even without a usecase, I feel like it'll be entertaining to read since it's so packed with content! I can’t wait for its release on October 1st!

Hello! This is Wenlai from the techo team. Here are the items I’ve chosen to partner with for 2027!



I plan on using the same three techo set up I made use of this year.
First up, is the V&A - Vine HON (A6 size). This marks my fourth year using a HON! I typically keep it at home as my daily journal.
Whenever I wanted to write on the go, I’d pop my HON into a MOTHER drawstring pouch alongside my pen case before heading out. But I kept thinking, “Can I make this simpler?” — so this year, I decided to pick up a cover for it!



Because a Tragen cover has plenty of extra room, even a HON slides right in with ease. Both have a lovely vintage feel and muted tones, making for a wonderfully understated pairing.



I paired the Hobonichi Store exclusive Plain Old Acorn Charm with the Hobonichi Techo Mini Keychain (Suica’s Penguin)... It's so cute!

There’s also a plaid patterned mini techo, but I just couldn’t resist the charm of this little penguin... It hasn’t launched yet, but I’ll be thrilled if I can bring it home!



When carrying it around, I can tuck the charm right into the Tragen’s zippered pocket so it won’t snag on anything inside my bag!

Now for my key item of the year: the brand-new stationery item, the “Pocket Envelope.”



I tend to hoard stickers, memo slips, wrapping paper, and other paper ephemera that I plan to paste into my pages eventually. Leaving them tucked away feels like a waste, and I’d been vaguely wishing for a better storage solution — so when I saw this item, I jumped at it: “Whoa, this is exactly what I needed!!”

Sticking it onto the endpaper instantly adds extra storage. I couldn’t be happier!



My second book is an A5 Day-Free that I use for tracking goals and progress. I’m pairing it with Akiko Miyakoshi’s cover and matching pencil board. The design has so much atmospheric depth — it’s quietly captivating.




My third book is a Weeks I'll use for jotting down anything and everything. I went with the special Moomin edition featuring Snufkin!

I was torn between this and PUPPET SUNSUN’s “Banana,” but since the special edition is exclusive to the January-start lineup, I snagged it so I wouldn’t regret missing out! I’m also pairing it with the Index Sticky Notes so I can quickly jump to important pages.

Whenever I see cute sticky notes or stickers, I buy them purely on reflex. But buying them is pointless unless I actually use them, so I bought a photo album, too! Tucking them into clear pockets keeps everything visible and easy to store.



In 2027, I hope to use these tools cleverly and become a improve my organization skills!

Welcome to the start of Hobonichi Techo Kaigi, our annual series where Hobonichi staff members share their struggles and deliberation process as they pick their next year’s books. We hope you’ll join in and hold your own techo meeting at home, too!

Here are the books I’m leaning toward partnering with for 2027:



Book 1: Daily Schedule & Work

Since this will be my primary, most-used techo, I’m choosing it carefully based on my own personal habits and tendencies making sure it matches me.

The Cover on Cover I used this year was super durable and stain-resistant — absolutely perfect for someone as clumsy as myself.

I know there's all kinds of varying degrees and levels to somethings strength and dirt resistance, but I recommend the smooth types (*my personal nickname for them) to anyone who:
・Frequently forgets their umbrella and gets caught in the rain
・Tends to spill their coffee
・Often gets their hands messy while snacking



In the Day-Free book itself, I rely heavily on the Monthly Calendar pages. To keep the pages from looking overly cluttered with text, I draw my own encrypted doodles to represent personal plans.

The problem is that I’ve been running out of space — and honestly, lately I’ve even started forgetting what my own drawings mean!

That’s when I got an idea from some people I interviewed recently. One person was using two techos for work, and another was a total Weeks master , which made me want to copy them! So, I decided to add a Weeks as a secondary work book to lighten the load.

Book 2: Secondary Work Techo

Without hesitation, I picked the special Moomin edition Weeks featuring “A Day in the Life of Snufkin” as my second work techo!

My plan is to use my first techo (the Day-Free) for monthly calendars and general notes, and this weeks for detailed to-do lists.

Book 3: Journal

For my journal, I’m also copying someone else!
2027 isn’t a particularly milestone year for me, but everyone I know who uses a 5-Year Techo says it’s so much fun that I’m making my sudden debut!

It’s so exciting to try something different from my usual routine by copying others and going with the flow!

Then again, as I read through all the upcoming Techo Kaigi posts published between now and late September, I’ll probably get inspired to copy even more ideas — and end up using a completely different set of books altogether!

We’ve just wrapped up setting up our event space here in Seoul!







Just look at how wonderfully packed everything is! Within a cozy space roughly three meters square, we’ve fitted in as many techos and stationery items nice and tight.



This is the Hobonichi name plate. The design of the venue as a whole is so wonderful, too—the color palettes and layout choices throughout the entire space are truly inspiring!

The first floor is lined with booths from Japanese stationery brands, while the second floor features a curated collection of local Korean shops. It’s impossible not to want to shop for everything in sight!



We grabbed a photo with the helper who will be staffing the booth with us starting tomorrow. We hope to share a full report on the venue’s lively atmosphere in an upcoming Techo News post later!

The Moomin Shop, overflowing with the charm and whimsical world of Moomin, is now carrying items from the Hobonichi Techo 2027 lineup! I stopped by the Ginza store on launch day to check it out.



As soon as you step through the entrance facing the street, a special Hobonichi Techo display comes right into view!



The display features a full lineup of items — from Moomin techo covers and Weeks to themed stationery like the Deco Rush and notebooks.

According to the store staff, they received numerous inquiries from eager customers well before launch day, showing just how much everyone was looking forward to this release. Apparently, the lineup has been exceptionally popular with international visitors, too!

Beyond the techos, the shop is packed with wonderful Moomin goods. Although I came specifically to report on the launch, I ended up sneaking in a little personal shopping session of my own...!

In the Kanto area, the collection is currently available at the Futako-Tamagawa and Yokohama locations in addition to the Ginza store. If you’re in the area, be sure to drop by and visit!

The "Plain Old Acorn Charm" that comes as a Hobonichi Store exclusive bonus for eligible orders of techo books from the official store has had very warm reviews.



The charm’s mold was created using the single most “plain old” acorn selected during an in-office audition, where crew members brought in acorns they’d collected.

And that leaf-shaped backing paper in the packaging that the charm rests on? Believe it or not, that’s actually modeled after a leaf from my very own baby oak tree at home!

A few years ago, I happened to pick up an acorn in the park and planted it in a pot. It sprouted, grew steadily, and these days it looks like this:



All I've really done is give it a little water every now and then, and now it's almost as tall as me.

When we decided to make this years bonus an acorn, I suddenly remembered that "huh, I think that's what's growing at home." So I brought in a leaf for the team.



People seemed to like the shape, and as more people complimented it, I felt a strange pride well up in me — like a proud acorn father.

On launch day, plenty of Hobonichi crew members are busy picking out their own techos right alongside our customers! Crew members from other teams have even been stopping by to cheerily announce, “I bought that one!”

I’ve been agonizing over my choice for a while now, so allow me to share two leather techo covers that have personally caught my eye.



First is ARTS&SCIENCE’s “Wax Coating Kip.” The glossy finish on the surface is so striking! As you use it over time, that initial shine will likely settle into a lovely, mature patina. I also adore its clean, simple belt-closure design.



The other is GLOW’s “CHIANTI,” pictured on the right. This one is a tri-fold design, and there’s something so charming about the way it compactly wraps around the book.

I’ve always admired well-loved leather covers that age gracefully with daily use — just like this well-worn cover used by our fellow crew member, (Hirose), for his 5-Year Techo.

My imagination runs wild wondering how both the “Wax Coating Kip” and “CHIANTI” will transform and develop their own unique character over time. They’re both so tempting! I think I’ll take a little more time to think before making my final choice.

Featuring spacious pockets that let you carry stationery and small essentials alongside your planner, the “Tragen” cover now comes with a patterned design for the very first time!



It features a plaid check pattern that hits the absolute sweet spot — neither overly casual nor overly sweet. It’s soft to the touch with a subtle luster, making it an irresistible pick for plaid lovers!

Here are a few comments we overheard from visitors at our recent preview exhibition:

“I already own three tragen covers, but this check pattern is so cute I’m definitely buying it!”
— Woah! Four Tragens!

“I love how satisfying it is when the magnet snaps shut!”
— You know... That is so true!!

“I’m going to get the Cousin (A5) size tragen and slip a Weeks right into the pocket.”
— Ah, what a clever idea!

Of course, you can still pick up the classic, solid-colored versions as well! There are so many creative ways to use them.

After Boston, I headed to Houston, Texas! This time the venue was Little Craft Place, a local stationery shop beloved as a cozy gathering spot for stationery enthusiasts.

Over the weekend, the store was bustling with visitors!



From attendees testing out covers on their own techos to folks sharing tips and ideas with each other, a warm and welcoming atmosphere filled the shop from start to finish.

I asked a few visitors about their favorite items from the new lineup! After trying various techo formats over the years — including the Cousin, Original, and the Weeks — Sarah found that the Cousin suited her best, and plans to use a Cousin size for work again this year. The item she was most interested in, was the Nothing to Hide (Pink) techo cover made in collaboration with Beautiful People. It was a perfect match for her lovely outfit!



I was so happy to hear firsthand how everyone uses their techos and which items they are looking forward to picking up for the coming year. To everyone who made the trip to the venue and greeted us with such wonderful smiles and conversation — thank you so much!
