[Great things about covers and stationery]
Look at the Floral Design on Phoolon

Hi everyone! This is Nakamae.

You know, I’ve kind of unofficially declared myself the ambassador of the “Phoolon” cover.

Just look at it.
The texture and depth that comes from the traditional Indian block printing technique ー it’s just so special.

Of course, the real hero of this cover is Shiori, who worked super hard on everything ー from negotiating with “chahat,” the fabric supplier, to choosing the fabric, creating the design, reviewing samples, and going back and forth a bunch of times.
So yes, I totally get it if people are like, “How dare you take the credit!”
Because honestly, it’s Shiori who poured her heart into making this happen.

What makes this cover amazing is the folded fabric, block-printed by hand by Indian artisans. The slightly raised ink, the faded textures ー those unique qualities can’t be recreated with screen printing.
That’s why this cover is really one-of-a-kind.

The Original has a “small flower” print, while the Cousin features “large flowers.”

So, why am I talking about this with such confidence?
It’s because I’ve completely fallen in love with this design.
I just can’t help it ー it means so much to me (probably more than it should).

I even talked about it passionately during our live YouTube stream, just before the new lineup launch.

And then, after that, I started seeing people on social media, on blogs (like “note”), and even at Hobonichi’s own “Joy of Life” event, saying things like:
“I bought Phoolon because Nakamae recommended it!”
“After hearing Nakamae talk about it, I knew I had to get Phoolon!”

That’s when I thought ー Okay!! I’ve got to spread the word even more!!
People need to know how great this cover is!!!!!

Because really, it is such a beautiful cover.

Just look at this print.
Go ahead! Zoom in!
Isn’t it gorgeous?
Each one is handmade, so no two are exactly the same.

And look at this little detail on the flap. That charm is also made in India. How cute is that?

Now look at this bold pink bookmark.
Don’t you think it’s the perfect accent? It adds a lovely charm to the fresh, calm tones.
That contrast ー I absolutely love it.

It closes with a magnetic flap, and we actually added two magnets just in case. So if you like to stick lots of things inside your techo ー tickets, paper bits, all of it ー it’ll still close just fine. Super thoughtful design, right?

Of course it works great with the Cousin, but it also goes perfectly with the Day-Free. The matching blue tones are just so nice, don’t you think?

***

I mentioned this on YouTube too, but I’ve always loved the combo of sky blue and pink. I used to live in a room that looked exactly like Phoolon. Seriously I kept saying, “This cover is just like my old room!” It was the perfect match.

I had a pink fridge and a pink clock in there.
I lived in that room alone for almost ten years. Everything about it was my favorite. Coming home every day felt like such a treat.

So when I got married and had to leave that room behind, I cried and cried.
“I’m giving up this room I love so much…”
“I’ll never get to come back here again…”

That’s how deeply I felt about that space.

But when I saw Phoolon, all those memories came rushing back.
“It feels like when I saw that room for the first time!”
“I really loved that place.”
“It would’ve looked so perfect with this cover in it.”

And then something strange happened.
That room had always felt like a sad memory because I had to leave it behind. But as I spent more time with Phoolon, it started to feel like something really precious. Like a good memory.
Even though it’s long gone, I realized, “That place will always live in my heart.”

And just realizing that filled me with this deep, quiet happiness.
It’s a mysterious feeling, isn’t it?

So yeah, I really love Phoolon.
I’ll keep saying it:
“You should check out Phoolon!”
“Phoolon is amazing!”

It’s not just a cover for your techo ー you can use it as a notebook cover, too. I hope you’ll pick up your very own one-of-a-kind piece.
