This postcard set featuring artwork by artist Kazuo Mochizuki comes in a Black x White set or a Color set, each of which contains 5 postcards.
Each set contains eye-catching illustrations of animals, as the Black x White set contains illustrations of a bear and zebras while the Color set contains penguins, cute elephant butt, owls, and more. Both sets include an illustration of polar bears, although those ones are slightly different than the polar bear on the Hobonichi Techo cover.
The cards are great for sending letters to close friends and family or using to decorate your Hobonichi Techo.
About Kazuo Mochizuki
Born 1935 in Shizuoka Prefecture.
Graduated from Tama Art University’s oil painting program before studying stencil dyeing under esteemed dye artisan Keisuke Serizawa. Lived a vagabond lifestyle for 8 years until settling down to work as a silk screen artistan for 30 years. Took up copperplate engraving after retirement for about 10 years before opening his first solo gallery in 2002. Created hit “Animals” series in 2013 with a strangely charming collection of animal artwork, gaining popularity and a reputation as a man of mystery. Mochizuki talked to Hobonichi in 2015 about wanting to explore new methods and themes, but at 79 years old, he passed away shortly before the article was released.
